Brighton ’64 — Mods’ POV: parkas, polish, and a line of light on wet tarmac

Polish first, then throttle — the Mod pre-flight ritual.

We tuned Brighton to a heartbeat: two-stroke hum, soul on vinyl, soles on wet tarmac. Parka hoods up, razor suits underneath, chrome clean enough to catch the pier lights. We weren’t just going to the seaside; we were bringing the city with us.

“If you can see your reflection in the headlamp, you’re ready for the day.”

Mods are geometry in motion. Scooters lined like a grid, lamp clusters gleaming like constellations. You dress in margins and measure in millimetres—cuffs, lapels, mirror angles. The promenade gave us a runway; the headlines gave us permanence.

Lineup as a language — spacing is attitude.
